CMS Creditable Coverage Letter Distribution

Oct. 15, 2024

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina will email the annual Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Creditable Coverage letters to ACA Individual/Family and Small Group members at the start of Medicare’s open enrollment period which begins Oct. 15. Members received either a creditable or noncreditable coverage letter depending on the member's plan. The letters outline if the member has creditable coverage or noncreditable coverage and provides details on how and when to proceed. You can view a copy of these letters below. Each letter includes a notice that BlueCross must send to Medicare-eligible members (and eligible dependents) covered under their plan.

Letters:

Members with creditable coverage can choose to continue their current drug coverage or enroll in a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan. Those who have noncreditable coverage should consider enrolling in a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.

If the member chooses to enroll in a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan, open enrollment runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7 of this year.
